Commercial law firm Haddleton Legal has marked its first anniversary with significant investment in larger premises and a pledge to double its head count next year as it moves towards a target of £2M turnover by May 2020.
Launched in September 2017 by James Haddleton, who was previously managing partner and head of commercial litigation at DWF in Leeds and in-house legal counsel for pharmaceutical group Clinigen, Haddleton Legal has grown to 14 lawyers.
The firm has moved to newly refurbished office space in Windsor House in Harrogate this month to accommodate further growth and is forecast to hit £2M turnover in its next financial year.
Haddleton Legal specialises in providing commercial law services including governance and compliance. The firm has completed work for clients such as UK retailer Iceland and Yorkshire-based manufacturers Kloeckner Metals and Sulzer Engineering.
James said the firm’s conscious decision to set itself apart in the market with fixed rate services instead of hourly rates, strategic recruitment of experienced lawyers with a background of working in-house and a real commitment to flexible working has contributed to significant growth in its first year of trading.
“Each and every one of our lawyers has over 10 years of experience post qualification and 95 per cent have worked as in-house counsel which gives them a solid understanding of the corporate environment,” he said.
“We are also very proud of the fact that over 80% of our lawyers are women, many of whom have been able to combine family life with a return to their careers because of our commitment to flexible working,” James added.
James confirmed that the firm planned to recruit a further 12-15 qualified lawyers to its team during 2019 and continue to invest in the development of its e-learning platform of legal and compliance training which will be accessible to organisations of all sizes, from PLCs to start-ups.
